Another Adventure Part 5

February 3

I am feeling better this morning and for that I thank the Lord. We are back on the road again, the sun is shining and we are both feeling "better." So long Arizona, nice drive New Mexico, and hello Texas. We made it as far as Van Horn where we spent the night at a Pilot station.

February 4

We have driven past miles and miles of cattle ranches with barely a cow to be seen, and very few houses or should I say campers. There are a few nice looking gates announcing a ranch but there is never a ranch to be seen. We stopped in Marfa, a small town made famous for a movie that was made here many years ago called "Giant." We visited the shops located in the hotel made famous by the movie, some nice things but too expensive. Not sure who or why anyone would travel here to shop as there is nothing around here for miles and miles.

We stopped in Marathon to walk through the Gage Hotel, very nice but again nothing around here for miles.

Further down the road we stopped in Langtry at the Judge Roy Bean Visitor Center. Judge Roy was quite the character and is was interesting to learn about him during his day. The visitor Center was very nice with a vast array of botanical plants native to this part of Texas.

It's too bad that I am starting to feel sick again as I was hoping this bug had left and moved on. We stopped to take a picture of the high bridge over the Pico river, nice view. Tonight we are camping at the Seminole Canyon State Park.

Plans have changed. We were going to go hiking this morning but after a couple of kidney stone attacks for Tim during the night, he decided he wanted to get to RGBI as quickly as possible to be near a medical center. So we got on the road, and thankfully after a bit of driving I had cell coverage again (we were wondering how we were going to find a hospital without a phone).

The scenery has changed from desert to some farm land and then gravel pits, back to desert and then came more towns and cities. We arrived at RGBI around 6:30 pm and quickly set up camp before heading out to find Peter & Martha (Tim's dads cousin). We arrived just in time to enjoy a delicious bowl of homemade soup before heading over to listen to the Ambassadors play music and then enjoy a black light performance. Early to bed for us tonight.
