2013
A year of change, adventure and growth.
We began 2013 with a trip through the Southern USA. First a
stop to visit relatives, then travelling along the coastline to Alabama. Along
the way we saw many beautiful things and enjoyed our time together. You can
read all about it in older posts. We spent a month volunteering with Mennonite
Disaster Service in Birmingham helping to rebuild homes that had been destroyed
by tornados. And finally, driving back home.
During this time we experienced the power of prayer. How God
could use one woman’s pray to give me the strength to do the work that was
needed to be done. God gave us the strength and ability to do the work that was
required. He gave us the love to share with others. He gave us peace in our
day. He gave us joy in serving Him. Working for God instead of ourselves brings
much joy.
On April 2, 2013 our grandson was born. What a joy and
privilege to be grandparents. We pray that we shower him with love (which is
hard to contain) and show him the love of Jesus.
Preparing the soil, seeding the grains, fertilizing,
spraying and more spraying, watching it grow and finally harvesting what we
planted. This is our lives from spring until fall. Busy but enjoyable.
Spending time
with our weekend daughter, especially during the summer when we had more than
just weekends, is always entertaining. We thoroughly enjoy spending time with
her and look forward to many more times together.
A short one week vacation to a warm climate was just what we
needed to bring husband and wife closer together. A time of refreshing, reading
and enjoying each others company.
Christmas with a baby was new and exciting. Having all the
family together is also a pleasure that not everyone can enjoy, and we thank
the Lord that we have this time together.
We praise the Lord that Jordan is doing well in his new job
and position at Burrito Del Rio. We thank the Lord that Michelle is an
excellent mother to Luke and thank the Lord that Luke is growing and doing
well.
We are grateful for the schooling opportunities for both
Matt and Nick. Matt is finishing his second and final year in the Agriculture
Diploma Program at the U of M while Nick began his first year at Millar College
of the Bible in Saskatchewan. God has been good and we pray that as these young
men study and learn that they will also grow in their knowledge of Him.
For myself I have begun a new position of leadership in the
church we attend and I trust that God will give me the strength and ability to
lead as He desires. Without God I can do nothing.
We look forward to 2014 and all that it will bring. God is
in control! We (I) need to remember this daily. We trust Him in all things. Matthew 19:26
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all
things are possible.”
